Was
founded by Dee Overduin a twenty-year veteran of the paper tole business.
Ms.Overduins qualifications include an accounting degree and
a Masters degree in Business Administration.
She has written articles about paper tole and is
the author of three popular instruction books about paper tole as
a hobby and as a business. Her workshop on feathering was featured
on the Carol Duvall show. She has spoken at numerous service clubs
and social functions both in Canada and the United States.
Ms. Overduin has taught several courses on how to
start a small business at the community college level. Over the
past 20 years, she has successfully started and sold three paper
tole businesses, and now devotes much of her time to the development
and growth of the Paper Tole Institute.
Through the Paper Tole Institute, she hopes to
enhance and raise the level of craftmanship found in todays
paper tole. Ms. Overduin was active in the National Guild of Decoupeurs,
and was its executive director for the two years.
On November 15, 2003 Marit Gabler became the new
President of the Insitute. She is a Certified Paper Tole Teacher
at all three levels. Marit traveled to the United States in 2003,
2005 and 2007 to teach some PTI courses. Her dedication and enthusiasm
were readily apparent, and many of her delighted students was attending
her workshop and the World Exibition of Paper Tole in Norway May/June
2006. She is planning the 2nd 3D Paper Tole World Exhibition ever,
in Yuma, Arizona, March 2009 , followed by one week paper tole cource.

Marit has been in the paper tole business for the
past since 1997, and has her own teaching center and Paper Tole
shop in Norway. She teaches classes year-round. Before coming to
paper tole, she was a porcelain decorator/painter.
Marit has taught students from all over the world.
She loves paper tole and is able to generate excitement and love
for paper tole in her students. She is dedicated to producing superior
work and encourages her students to do the same.
PAPER TOLE STANDARDS
After years of research and in conjunction with
a number of experienced paper tolers, the Institute has developed
a set of standards for paper tole. These standards will be used
in judging paper tole works for teacher certification.
